Department of Chemistry


DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

The Lal Bahadur Shastri College was started by educationalist and social reformer Dr Bapuji Salunkhe in 1967 with Arts and Commerce faculty. The Department of Chemistry was established in 1967 as under graduate course. From 2013, we have newly started P.G. course with Analytical Chemistry Section to meet the overwhelming response of Chemistry graduates. From 2013 university authority has given affiliation to start Ph. D. and M. Phil. degrees to our department. From 2022, we have also started PG course in Organic Chemistry on the request of Students.  Presently eight Ph. D research student working under the guidance of Dr. R. V. Shejwal, Dr Avinash Nalawade and Dr. C. P. Mane. Department is also running course Cast iron Foundry Technology. A grant of 1.33 crore has been received from UGC, New Delhi in phase first and 81.20 lakhs in phase second for smooth conducting of these courses. The department of Chemistry is the prime department of our College having 560 students in U.G. courses and 110 students in P.G. courses. The deparmental laboratory has been recognized by Shivaji University for P.G.,M.Phil. and Ph.D research work, six faculties are P.G. Recognized. The department has recognized by pharmaceutical industries as a producer of the scientific man power. Pharmaceutical industry like Cipla, US Vitamin, Lupin, Ranbaxy and Agrochemical industries like Gharada, etc.
